Lovely Babycham

I have started attending a photography course a few weeks ago and so during weekends I try to do some exercises. So, is there a better chance than a bright sunny day to shoot some pics of the beautiful Babycham boots that I have bought for my sister?

Da qualche settimana ho inziato un corso di fotografia e così durante il fine settimana provo a fare un po’ di esercizio. E allora, quale occasione migliore di una bella giornata per fare qualche scatto ai bellissimi stivali Babycham che ho regalato alla sister?

It was an odissey: bought before Christmas on Dr Shoes, they arrived the last week!! It was not a fault of Dr Shoes, not at all!! They are so kind and they sent the parcel three times after the courier in Italy rejected it after reaching Verona…

E’ stata un’epopea: comprati prima di Natale su Dr Shoes, sono arrivati solo la settimana scorsa!!!
La colpa non è stata di Dr Shoes, tutt’altro!!! Loro sono stati veramente gentili e hanno spedito il pacco per ben 3 volte dopo che il corriere nostrano li aveva recapitati a Verona…

To apologize for the long wait (due only to the italian courier and not to Dr Shoes Fault) they included in the parcel so many freebies, a belt, two bags, a baseball caps a a ton of vouchers to be used in the next shopping sessions.

Per scusarsi della lunga attesa (dovuta esclusivamente al corriere italiano e non ad una loro dimenticanza) hanno incluso nel pacco una cintura, due borse, un cappellino e tanti voucher da utilizzare per acquisti futuri.

I suggest to browse the site, because in Italy they are hard to find, only a few items at Athletes World. I had already put my eyes on these boots at Schuh’s shop in Dublin O’Connell Street, but I was there with my hand luggage and it was full!!!

Consiglio di fare un giretto sul sito, in Italia non si trovano facilmente, solo qualcosina da Athletes World. Avevo già adocchiato questi stivali a Dublino da Schuh in O’Connell Street, ma ero partita col solo bagaglio a mano e non ci stava più niente!!!

Venus

This project dates back to the first months of 2007, unfortunately the agency that I was working for had closed business, so I can show you the corporate identity and not much more than that. I have sanitized the pictures removing all the addresses and telephone numbers linking to the real agency.

Venere Web

The starting concept was to blend the two branches agency logotypes in a single logo: the starting materials were a peach, that represented the events or exhibitions, and a “Venere del Botticelli” image that was used in an old version of the website. I made different test, trying to make a logo that blended a Venere with a peach brooch in the hair, but that did not work when scaled to little dimensions. So I simply did a new typographic version, leaving the icon to his decorative role.

This last image shows the second version of the website landing page.  Actually I don’t think I will get to work on another project that mission was so “Doll-like and cuddly” from the beginning!!!

Questo progetto risale ai primi mesi del 2007, purtroppo l’agenzia per la quale lavoravo ha chiuso e così posso solo mostrarvi l’immagine coordinata e poco altro ancora. Per correttezza ho tolto tutte le intestazioni con indirizzi e numeri di telefono.

Il concept iniziale era quelle di fondere i marchi di due rami dell’agenzia all’interno di un unico logo: a mia disposizione avevo la pesca, che rappresentava gli eventi, e un’immagine della Venere del Botticelli utilizzata in precedenza sulla vecchia versione del sito. Ho fatto diverse prove, creando un logo che associasse un’icona della Venere con un fermaglio tra i capelli a forma di pesca, tuttavia non mi convinceva del tutto perché sulle piccole dimensioni non funzionava. Così ho creato semplicemente una nuova versione tipografica, lasciando all’icona solo il ruolo decorativo.

In questa immagine potete vedere una seconda versione della welcome del sito. In realtà non credo che mi ricapiterà un progetto in cui l’immaginario è stato esplicitamente richiesto così “Bamboloso e Boccoloso” fin dall’inizio!!!

Hi-Fructose #6

After months worth of wait Hi-Fructose Issue n. 6 is at last in my hands!! This magazine is being shipped directly from Albany (California) and it always takes some time to get it reach Italy, this is also written on the magazine’s site were you are warned to wait and wait for intercontinental shippings.
But let’s get focused on the contents: the cover is dedicated to Yoko D’Holbachie, that I already appraciated from the pages of Mascotte magazine that I sneak peeked at Hoepli bookstore (by the way, did you noticed that at Hoepli there’s a sign screaming for attention that reads: “Taking notes from exposed books is forbidden”?? Maybe too many students were taking along theirs notebook like I’ve done.. without buying anything in the end!!).
To Yoko is dedicated the main article, that is a long interview about her techniques and distinctive features of her creatures and landscapes.

Take a look at her site. Other interviews have ample coverage like the one with Audrey Kawasaki, that will exibit at Mondo Bizzarro Gallery in Rome next Fall, the one with Jonathan Weiner and the ones with Ron Mueck and Marion Peck.

Dopo mesi di attesa il sesto numero di Hi-Fructose è finalmente arrivato nelle mie mani!!! Questa rivista viene spedita direttamente da Albany (California) e ci vuole un po’ di tempo per farla arrivare in Italia, meno male che sul sito avvisano che per le spedizioni intercontinentali bisogna aspettare e aspettare…
Ma passiamo ai contenuti: in copertina abbiamo Yoko D’Holbachie, che già ammiravo sulle pagine di Mascotte spulciate di sgamo alla Hoepli (ma avete notato che alla Hoepli fa bella mostra di sé, un cartello che vieta di prendere qualsiasi tipo di appunti sui libri in esposizione?? Si vede che troppi studenti girano per la libreria con taccuino alla mano come facevo io… Per poi non comprare niente!!!). E’ a lei che viene dedicato l’articolo centrale, con una lunga intervista riguardante le sue tecniche ed i caratteri distintivi delle sue creature e dei suoi paesaggi.

Date uno sguardo al sito. Trovano ampio spazio anche le interviste ad Audrey Kawasaki, che esporrà alla Mondo Bizzarro Gallery di Roma il prossimo autunno, a Jonathan Weiner, Ron Mueck e Marion Peck.

Tom Gallant

This is the first web site that I’m going to review, actually it was suggested by Angy!! This origami artist, Tom Gallant, is really oustanding, but I never imagined that so much patience is needed in order to get the final result.
The floral decorative patterns are transferred manually over erotic pictures and from there carefully cropped with a scalpel. The creations are impressive, not only because of the beauty and transgression, but also for the long job of cropping and making up.

Questo primo sito che mi accingo a recensire, in realtà, mi è stato
consigliato dall’Angy!!! Tom Gallant, l’artista di questi origami è davvero eccezionale, ma non avrei mai immaginato che ci volesse tanta pazienza per arrivare al risultato finale.
I motivi decorativi floreali vengono trasferiti manualmente su fotografie erotiche e da qui ritagliate accuratamente con un bisturi. Le creazioni sono impressionanti, non solo per la loro bellezza e trasgressione, ma anche per il lunghissimo lavoro di ritaglio e composizione!!!

Interactive Key Award

This is the first image that I post: I have made it during the course “Multimedia Graphic” that I’ve attended this July.
One of the best things I’ve ever done!!!
Besides having enjoyed it and have known a lot of friends nice and full of talent, I have learned many things that I taked for granted in programs that I believe to know 100%!!!
For this image, Dawn, I have used images and vectors, but I gave particular attention to the countless brushes in Photoshop mixing and matching with some interesting filters such as Displace.

Questa è la prima immagine che posto sul mio blog: l’ho realizzata durante il corso per Grafico Multimediale che ho frequentato a Luglio.
Una delle cose migliori che abbia mai fatto!!!
Oltre ad essermi stradivertita ed aver conosciuto un sacco di amici simpatici e pieni di talento, ho imparato moltissime cose che davo per scontate in programmi che credevo di conoscere!!!
Per Dawn ho utilizzato sia immagini che vettori, ma ho dato particolare evidenza agli innumerevoli pennelli di Photoshop mischiandoli ad alcuni filtri interessanti come il Displace.

Sormani

Yesterday I went to Sormani, It was ages since I have been in that building. I needed a quiet and comfortable place so i could draw until the begginning of the course. Frankly speaking I was lacking inspiration, it’s not so easy to illustrate something without doing trivial or already seen shots… So I’ve started to scribble Sphinx cats for all the afternoon… and they are almost as frightful as the real ones!!
Besides that, I still have to do the basis of the shots and it’s all due within Wednesday…

Ieri sono andata in Sormani, sono anni che non metto più piede in quell’edificio. Mi serviva un posto comodo e tranquillo dove poter disegnare fino all’inizio del corso. A dire la verità ero un po’ a corto di ispirazione, non è facile illustrare una storia senza scadere in inquadrature banali e già viste… Così ho iniziato a scarabocchiare gatti Sphinx per tutto il pomeriggio e devo dire che sono quasi più inquietanti di quelli veri!!!
Ciò non toglie che devo ancora creare le basi per le inquadrature, il tutto entro mercoledì…

A new beginning

I start my blog with a special thanks to Cecilia for pushing me to start this new adventure. Here you will find all my future graphics and illustration projects. I have decided not to publish my old material because it’s way too much influenced by my academic courses and it doesn’t reflect my actual style.

Inizio il mio blog con un ringraziamento speciale a Cecilia per avermi convinto ad iniziarne uno!!! Qui potrete trovare tutti i miei lavori di grafica ed illustrazione, anche se ho deciso di non pubblicare progetti troppo datati perché risentono troppo delle influenze universitarie e non rispecchiano il mio stile attuale.
